PDF to QBO Converter
Turn a bank statement PDF into a QuickBooks-ready .qbo file. Every conversion is checked against the statement's own balances — opening balance + transactions must equal the closing balance, to the cent — so you know nothing was missed or misread.
How it works
PDFs have no data layer to parse — every bank lays out its statements differently, and scans are just pictures. So this converter reads your statement with AI vision, the same way a person would, then verifies the result with plain arithmetic: opening balance + every extracted transaction must equal the stated closing balance. If the numbers don't reconcile, we tell you exactly by how much instead of letting a silent error into your books. Our extraction methodology and current eval results are public on the accuracy page.
What happens to my file?
Unlike our CSV converter (which runs entirely in your browser), PDF extraction needs a server. Your file is sent over HTTPS, processed in memory only — never written to disk, never stored, and its contents never enter our logs. AI processing runs under commercial terms where your data is never used for training. The full data-flow, tool by tool, is on the security page.
Limits on the free plan
1 document per day, up to 25 pages and 4MB. That covers a typical monthly statement with room to spare. Need more? Pro (100 documents/month, $39) is opening soon — convert a document and hit the limit to join the early-access list, or email hello@trytidybooks.com.
Importing the .qbo into QuickBooks
In QuickBooks Online: Transactions → Bank transactions → Upload from file, pick the downloaded .qbo, choose the account, review and confirm. Prefer a spreadsheet first? The same conversion can be downloaded as Excel or CSV — no extra upload needed.
What if the statement can't be read?
Then we say so. If a scan is unreadable or a document isn't a bank statement, the converter refuses and explains why — it never invents transactions to fill a table. A text-based PDF exported from online banking always works better than a photographed paper statement.
